Pataskala, Ohio. (7 July 2014) – Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian has been hard at work as the Ohio-based team prepares for the inaugural IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend. The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance marks Round 8 of the 2014 TUDOR Championship and after a disappointing outing two weeks ago at Watkins Glen, Michael Shank Racing is ready to move forward at the famous Canadian circuit formerly known as Mosport.

While the track is a new one to many teams and drivers among the TUDOR paddock, Michael Shank Racing drivers John Pew and Ozz Negri already have some experience at the 2.459-mile, 10 turn road course. Pew competed at the track while racing in Star Mazda and both he and Negri got the chance to get reacquainted with the track in relevant machinery with a productive test at the track last month with the Ford EcoBoost/Riley combination.

With so many teams visiting Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the first time this year, it is all the more imperative to unload off the trailer with a strong car. Starting the event with a blank notebook, Michael Shank Racing’s test should help the team start the weekend on the right path on the high-speed track.

“We had a very productive test at CTMP last month,” said team owner Mike Shank. “The track is very, very fast and takes a high level of commitment. We didn’t have the showing we wanted at the Glen but we just went back to the shop and turned the page and focused forward on this weekend’s race. It’s been a tough year for us, but not for any lack of effort or preparation. We just need to keep executing and we know the results will come. We got a small bump with the (Balance of Performance) restrictors this week, but I don’t know if that will put us quite where we need to be just yet. My guys have been busting their backs and it’d be great to have some hardware to show for the effort. It will be another interesting battle in the Prototypes, and hopefully it turns into a big weekend for us.”

It will be a busy weekend for Michael Shank Racing with three practice sessions ahead of qualifying which is set to take place Saturday at 6:05 PM ET (LIVE video streaming on IMSA.com). The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance will go green on Sunday at 2:05 PM ET. FOX Sports 1 will televise the event LIVE at 2:00 PM ET.
