The No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R will start Sunday’s IMSA Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio from the inside of the fourth row after IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Saturday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington.

Renger van der Zande, sharing the cockpit this weekend with full-time co-driver Jordan Taylor, clocked a fast lap of 1 minute, 12.525 seconds at 112.082 mph around the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course situated between Cleveland and Columbus. It was good for seventh among the 36 car-and-driver combinations that will take the green flag for Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute race.

“We shouldn’t be happy with where we are in qualifying, but we didn’t have any practice to set up the car and we didn’t have it very smooth here last year at Mid-Ohio – we knew had some work to do,” said van der Zande, who qualified fifth here a year ago this weekend and co-drove with Taylor to a fifth-place finish in a caution-free race. “We came here with a big list of things we wanted to try this weekend but we couldn’t do it (because of wet weather). This morning in practice, at least we had a few laps to set up the basics of the car, but there’s more to find out on this track. Even during this qualifying session, we learned a little bit, but there’s more to come. I think the qualifying lap I did, there wasn’t much more in it. In the end, there’s a long race tomorrow where a lot can happen. Hopefully it will and we’ll try our best.”
