Michael Marsal Ready for Strong Close to Season at Road Atlanta

michael_marsal_racing_1Braselton, GA (2 October 2014) – After his final qualifying session of the 2014 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season, Michael Marsal heads into the race with confidence as he looks to finish the season on a high note.

The quick qualifying session was red-flagged after just two laps, but Marsal still managed to lay down a fast lap time securing a starting position in the seventh row of the starting grid for the final race of the season.

The No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 he shares with co-driver Tom Kimber-Smith showed pace in the two quick practice sessions ahead of qualifying as both drivers tuned the car to the tricky 2.54-mile circuit and left Marsal excited to get down to racing at Road Atlanta.

While the weather forecast for the race remains unsure, rain could play a large role in Friday’s 2.5-hour race, but Marsal remains confident in the strength of his BMW machine.

“I think the strategy would have played out really well for us if we had gotten to stay green,” said Marsal of the mostly red-flagged qualifying session. “The guys gave me a great car, the No. 97 Turner machine is feeling great out there and I really like this track. So tomorrow should be great, and depending on the weather it could also get really interesting, but I know the car is really solid, so I’m not worried at all. So I’m feeling confident and I’m ready to finish the season strong with Turner Motorsport!”

The green flag will fly for the final race of the season at 1:15 PM (ET) and the race will be streamed LIVE on IMSA.com. FOX Sports 1 will also broadcast the race on October 12 at 12:00 PM (ET).
