Michael Marsal Eager for Return to The Brickyard

Indianapolis, Ind. (23 July 2014) – After being forced to sit out the previous round of IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition due to a back injury, Michael Marsal is more than ready for his return to the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 this week. He now looks forward to the road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Round 8 of the 2014 championship.

Marsal is no stranger to the 2.435-mile road course which showcases the front straight of the famous oval and then winds its way through the infield. This weekend’s race marks the third annual Brickyard Sports Car Challenge event and Marsal has competed in every IMSA race at the Speedway to date. After completing an excellent stint in last year’s edition of the race in which he piloted the Multimatic Aston Martin machine all the way up into the top-five, luck turned sour as a crash during his teammate’s stint forced them to settle for a 22nd place result.

Though Marsal is experienced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the circuit has been slightly reconfigured since last year which will see most every team taking to the new track for the first time. For the 2.5-hour race, Marsal joins Tom Kimber-Smith in the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW and is ready to build some momentum at Indy.

“I’m stoked for Indy,” said Marsal. “It’s always really cool to run there and we’ve continued to improve this year. The whole Turner team has been working so hard. Getting on the podium at Indianapolis is something I think every driver dreams about, so it would be awesome to make that a reality and I think if we play our cards right, we can. It was frustrating to sit out Mosport but now I’m looking forward to Indy. ”

The condensed two-day schedule will keep Marsal busy as he is set for two practices ahead of qualifications on Thursday. The race is set to go green at 2:35 PM (ET) and will be streamed LIVE on IMSA.com.

The Brickyard SportsCar Challenge will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 August 3rd at 12:00 PM (ET).
