Date: Aug. 9, 2014

Wayne Taylor Racing: 5th by Ricky Taylor (1:56.175 at 125.438 mph)
The No. 10 Konica Minolta Chevrolet Corvette Dallara Daytona Prototype for Wayne Taylor Racing will start Sunday’s Tudor United SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase from the inside of the third row after qualifying Saturday at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Ricky Taylor, who with his younger brother and full-time co-driver Jordan Taylor is seeking to regain the series points the team held until one race ago at Indianapolis, turned a fast lap of 1 minute, 56.175 seconds at 125.438 mph around the iconic 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course. It was good for fifth among 52 car-and-driver combinations entered for Sunday’s two-hour, 45-minute race.
“We have been in the top-three all weekend,” Ricky Taylor said. “If you look at it, we were in the top-three among the DPs (Daytona Prototypes) in qualifying. The P2 (LMP2) cars really pulled out a lot there, which we didn’t expect. I feel we will be good in the race since we have been solid all weekend. I don’t have a problem with our pace. I think Richard (Westbrook of the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP) pulled a really good lap out there in the 90 car, which was a bit of a shock. But I feel that, for the race, we will be in good shape. I do not have any worries. Between our strategy and our solid driver lineup with Jordan, we will be good.”
