Walt’s Weekly – Long Beach/New York Auto Show

This weekend April 11-12 is the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. It is only for (P) Prototypes (11) and (GTLM) GT LeMans cars (10) because of it being a short 100 minute race, tight concrete canyon street course. Being squeezed in with Indy cars, Pirelli series and it is a busy weekend in Long Beach. You can watch the race on Fox Sports 1 at 6:00pm on April 12th. There is a 30 minute per race show at 5:40pm ET on imsa.com.

Next week starts the New York International Auto show at the Javitts Center in New York. It will have some new car introductions along with the new cars for this year. Easy to get to, go out and see and touch some of the cars you may never see on the street along side the daily drivers and cars that are prototypes of the future.

Some new items that have come up are that Patrick Dempsey is going to drive in the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup series July 21st at the Hockenheim race only. A gentleman that works hard at his job of acting but puts in 100%+ at his racing and hopes to learn more doing this race.

Also SRT Viper Dodge racing has pulled out of the 24 hours of Le Mans to put all their efforts into racing in the US and the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. They have made great strides in the series and a great year being on the podium twice this year along with making the series exciting being competitive with the BMW’s, Ferraris’s and Porsche. Great job by the team!

Spring is here, get out driving or to an auto event this year!
