Rum Bum Racing Ready to Race Forward at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

d29d6cb8-4ab3-48a5-bafb-be53640ef78aBowmanville, Ontario (11 July 2014) – Rum Bum Racing will start Saturday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance from the seventh row in Round 7 of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge championship held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The championship leaders will look to move forward in the 2.5-hour race as Nick Longhi and Matt Plumb join forces for the team’s debut at the Canadian road course.

While the race may be the first for Rum Bum Racing at the track formerly known as Mosport, both Longhi and Plumb have logged plenty of laps around the circuit and aim to put that experience to good use with a charge to the front from the 14th starting position.

Well known for canny strategy, the Joe Varde-led Rum Bum squad targets another podium performance as the team pursues its third consecutive IMSA championship with another positive result. The No. 13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche had made gains through two practice sessions ahead of Friday’s 15-minute qualifying session, with Longhi and Plumb posting the fifth fastest time of the second session.

Unfortunately, qualifying did not reflect those gains when traffic played a major role in the run and Longhi was forced to forfeit his flying laps.

“We were lined up first in order to have a clean track, but unfortunately as I came around on the first lap, the rest of the field was going very slowly and I was forced to throw away my fast lap because I had to slow way down,” said Longhi. “It’s unfortunate, but ultimately the car is good and we have the best team in the business so we’ll just have to work a little extra harder tomorrow to fight back up to the front like we always do.”

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance is set to go green Saturday at 1:15 PM ET and will be streamed live via video on www.imsa.com. Live timing and scoring is also available on the IMSA website.
