R.Ferri Motorsport Set for St. Pete

PWC 2015: Pirelli World Challenge Pirelli World Challenge Mar 07

Both team and driver have won on picturesque Florida circuit

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (26 March 2015) After making a winning start to the season with driver Olivier Beretta putting the No. 61 Ferrari 458 Italia in victory lane at the Circuit of the Americas, Toronto-based R.Ferri Motorsport RACING WITH FERRARI will be back in Pirelli World Challenge action this weekend in St. Petersburg as the series stages Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2015 championship.

With the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street course setting a scenic stage for the cars as they streak by the boat-filled harbor alongside the circuit, the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg provides one of the most picturesque tracks on the calendar.

The team arrives at the fast and challenging road circuit with some previous knowledge of the fastest way to find victory lane, having scored a dramatic victory in GT-A competition at the track last year as the team made an impressive World Challenge debut in 2014.

“I’m happy coming out of Austin with a win,” said team owner Remo Ferri. “We did well in St. Pete last year so we have a lot of experience on this track. I hope to score as many points as possible. We always want to win every race but it’s important that we finish well here as we head into Barber and the other upcoming races which are race tracks that we can do very well in.”

Beretta will look to pick up where he left off in the season-opening weekend after he scored a big victory in the first race of the season. Beretta carries a fondness for the St. Pete track, having scored victories in ALMS competition at the circuit.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been here at St. Pete,” said Beretta, who took to the track for practice on Thursday for a test session and official practice. “I like street racing and the organization did a good job of putting this event together, the track is very nice. The traffic will be heavy and the weather could also come into play. Tomorrow looks like it might rain which could make things interesting but race day looks sunny. I am quite happy about how we have started the day. We will race our line and see what happens at the end.”
