Heading into the Final Stretch of Trans Am Races Ruman is Off to Lime Rock Park, CT

Munroe Falls, Ohio – Heading into the final stretch of the Trans Am Championship with just three races to go, Ruman and the team are ready to continue turning up the heat.  Ruman heads to Lime Rock Park this weekend after coming off a great run a few weeks ago at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota, where she returned to the podium and earned a 2nd place finish.

Ruman and team are entrenched in an exciting Trans Am battle for the Championship.  After a few heartbreaking finishes for the team that allowed the points gap to spread, the team has not given up hopes to land Ruman’s first ever championship.  Heading into the weekend, Peterson continues to hold the lead with 233 points over Ruman’s 194, and Gregg a close third at 191.

Last year, The Ohio-based team arrived in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut with their back up car following a late race crash just days earlier at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park that saw the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette suffer severe damage. Unfavorable weather conditions factored through most of the traditional Memorial Day weekend event. Rain washed out Friday’s qualifying session, and the race opened under rainy conditions once again with Ruman starting the 100.5-mile race from outside the second row and eventually finishing fifth.

The return to Lime Rock Park will mark Ruman’s third Trans Am start at the quick 1.5-mile historic “bullring” track. “Fingers crossed, the weather will stay dry this weekend!” exclaimed Ruman.  “I’m looking forward to racing at LRP, the fans are great and it’s a fun, quick track.  My goal, as it has been the whole season, is to be in first when the checkered flag flies.”

Ruman and the Trans Am drivers will have a busy two day weekend. Cars will hit the track for practice Friday, September 19, at 11:40 a.m. EDT, followed by a second practice session at 2:50 p.m. and qualifying at 5:10 p.m. later that day. The 100.5 mile, 67-lap race will take place at 1:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday September 20.
