Austin, Texas (19 September 2014)  – Christian Fittipaldi will start the Lone Star Le Mans event from fourth on the grid as the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship marks the penultimate round of the 2014 championship on Saturday. Fittipaldi netted the second row starting spot during a 15-minute qualifying session Friday evening with a lap of 1:59.072-seconds at Circuit of the Americas.

The No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP improved through three practice sessions held Thursday and Friday ahead of qualifying as the team focuses on another positive race outing. Fittipaldi will open the race before handing the car over to Joao Barbosa who will anchor the car to the finish.

“It was a good effort from the whole team and from Team Chevy,” said Fittipaldi of the run. “We have a long race ahead of us tomorrow. What made me happy is that the car has only improved over the practices and into qualifying. In qualifying the car was the best that it’s been. We’ll see what we can do in the race. We’re satisfied with how we ran today and now we turn our focus to the race.”

Action Express Racing had three practices prior to Friday evening’s qualifying session and the team was quickly up to speed and posted the third quickest time in the first practice.

The team will now look to convert that positive momentum into a positive result in Saturday’s 2.75-mile race around the challenging 3.4-mile Texas road course.

A 20-minute warm up Saturday morning at 8:40 AM Central Time will take place ahead of the Lone Star Le Mans event which will go green at 11:35 AM Central Time.

The race will be televised LIVE on FOX Sports 2. FOX will also air the race on Sunday – check your local listings.
