(11 September 2014) – In just one month, the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will close out the 2014 season at Road Atlanta with the highly anticipated 10-hour Petit Le Mans event. The race marks the final event of both the overall TUDOR Championship and North American Endurance Cup (NAEC).

Action Express Racing currently leads both the overall and NAEC championships and spent two days testing at the 2.54-mile road course in preparation for the 11th and final race of the season.

“The test went great, we had a long list of items we wanted to try and we were able to get through all of them,” said Director of Team Operations Elton Sawyer. “We feel like we learned everything we needed to as a team, and feel extremely confident about coming back here in October for the Petit Le Mans.”

Drivers Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Sebastien Bourdais, who will share the Action Express Racing No. 5 Corvette Daytona Prototype at Road Atlanta, were all on hand at the test.

“I’m really happy with how things went the last couple of days,” said Barbosa who was grateful to be back behind the wheel of the Corvette machine following a brief break in TUDOR Championship race action. “Now, we can all turn our focus toward Circuit of the Americas and the goal of trying to win a third consecutive race with the Action Express Racing Corvette.”

Action Express Racing logged plenty of laps during the two-day GM-sanctioned test on Monday and Tuesday and came away with valuable data as the team sets its sights on the remaining two races of the championship.

“I think all three of us drivers were all very happy with the results of this test,” offered Fittipaldi. “As a racer, you always feel like there is room for improvement, but we feel confident in what we have for the Petit Le Mans. Now Joao and I are going to focus on Circuit of the Americas and try to win our fourth race of the season. We’ll be excited to get back to Road Atlanta in October.”

Action Express Racing leads the TUDOR Championship with a 16-point advantage as the series next travels to Circuit of the Americas for the Lone Star Le Mans event next weekend, September 19-20.
