Stevenson Motorsport set for Sebring

De Phillippi and von Moltke Set for Sebring with Stevenson Motorsport

Jacksonville, N.C. (16 February 2016) – After fighting to a double-finish for both team Audi R8 LMS machines in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, Stevenson Motorsports will now look ahead to building momentum in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season starting with the 64th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 19th. Stevenson Motorsports will feature a revised driver line up for the event.
In the Rolex 24 At Daytona, full-season Stevenson Motorsports drivers Andrew Davis, Robin Liddell, Matt Bell, and Lawson Aschenbach fought to a 15th place GTD class finish together in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS at Daytona. That foursome will now become two pairs as Stevenson looks to back up its 2015 championship-winning season with a strong run in the IMSA WeatherTech ranks.
Liddell and Davis will continue in the No. 6  Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS entry, with young American talent Conner De Phillippi set to join the duo for the upcoming Sebring event.  De Phillippi, who raced Stateside in open-wheel before moving to drive in the Porsche Supercup, opened the 2016 season with a headline-grabbing drive in the 24 Hours of Dubai on board an Audi R8 LMS.
The brother No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS will see Bell and Aschenbach joined by Dion von Moltke, who has extensive experience behind the wheel of Audi machinery including his effort with the team in the Rolex 24.
“It was great to have Kenny (Habul), Tristian (Vautier), and Boris (Said) as well as SunEnergy1 with us for the 24, and getting both our Audis to the finish the first time out with them was a solid start,” said team owner John Stevenson. “It will be good to take what we learned at Daytona and see what we can do at Sebring. We’ve had some very good days there and it would be great to have another good one! I think our full-season guys are very strong and it will be great to have Connor (De Phillippi) and Dion (von Moltke) with us for Sebring, so we are very much looking forward to getting going!”
Sebring’s 12 Hour is renowned for its large and enthusiastic spring breaker crowds, often unrelenting Florida heat, as well as for the challenging and bumpy 3.74-mile circuit track surface. The track has a fond place in the Stevenson Motorsports history books, as it was the site of the breakthrough victory in Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition for the team with the Camaro Z/28.R in 2014, with the group going 2 for 2 when they added another victory at the track in 2015.
The team will begin preparations for the 12 Hour with two days of testing at the track next week as IMSA stages an open test ahead of the event.  Be sure to “like” Stevenson Motorsports on Facebook (facebook.com/StevensonMotorsport) and follow on Twitter (@stevensonmotor)!
Stevenson Motorsports Sebring Endurance Line-up Driver Quotes:
Dion von Moltke, Stevenson Motorsports No. 9 Audi R8 LMS:
”To be able to join Stevenson for the famed trio of races, the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the Sebring 12 Hour and Petit Le Mans, is very special. To be able to go from one great team in Paul Miller Racing, to another stellar team in Stevenson Motorsports is something I cherish as a driver. I want to be battling for wins and championships and on a team like this I know I’ll have the support to allow me to do so. That combined with teammates that are really stand out drivers in Lawson Aschenbach and Matt Bell, I know that we can all push each other to get the most out of our Audi R8 LMS. I just can’t wait to get back to work at Sebring!”
Connor De Phillippi, Stevenson Motorsports No. 6 Audi R8 LMS:
“For 2016 I was looking to make a return to more racing in North America, and as my European plans developed I tried to align myself with top teams that would be competing in the new Audi GT3 machinery. Stevenson Motorsports was at the top of my list, and after we made contact it all moved forward from there! The 24 hours of Dubai was my first time in the Audi, and starting off with such a strong personal performance in completely foreign machinery gives me a great feeling heading into Sebring. It’s an incredible car and fits my driving style quite well. So I’m really looking forward to driving it again at the legendary Sebring. It’s a great honor to be a small part of this highly successful team.”
