Marsal, Turner Motorsports and BMW to Road America

Marsal Heads to Road America,

Back to Where it all Started

Elkhart Lake, Wisc. (3 August 2016) – The annual IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visit to Wisconsin’s Road America is a highlight for fans and racers alike. For Turner Motorsport driver Michael Marsal, it is a particularly relished race round as the 4-mile natural terrain circuit was where he first got behind the wheel of a race car with Skip Barber.

This weekend, Marsal will open another chapter of racing at the high-speed circuit as he pairs with his Turner Motorsport co-driver Markus Palttala in the No. 97 Alvarez & Marsal/IHG Rewards Club BMW M6 GT3. The all new car has shown improved pace each weekend out as the twin-turbocharged machine goes through its first season of IMSA competition with Turner Motorsport learning the car at every turn.

Road America is a track with long-duration, high-speed corners, mammoth braking zones, and a healthy dose of elevation changes. Not only was it the site of Marsal’s first laps in a race car, it was the track where he scored his first GT class podium with Turner Motorsport in 2013.

But that wasn’t his first time on the Road America podium, as the NYC racer scored an American Le Mans Series podium aboard an LMP1 machine with Dyson Racing in 2012.

“Road America is an awesome track, and it is always cool to go back there with a new car after starting in a Skip Barber car there,” said Marsal, who is looking to breakthrough for his first podium of the season with Palttla. “Hopefully this is a good track for the M6 and we can make the most of the aero grip we’ve got and have a good balance with the IHG Rewards car. Traffic is still going to be a factor for all of us, but it will be completely different from Lime Rock! I’m looking forward to getting back to Road America and making the most of the weekend.”

The race will be broadcast live on FS1 starting at 4:00 PM ET on Sunday. The Saturday afternoon qualifying session will be streamed at imsa.tv starting at 3:50 PM ET
