LAKEVILLE, Connecticut (July 23, 2016)- Following a hard-fought race that saw an abundance of caution periods, attrition, and altering pit strategies, Magnus Racing’s John Potter and Andy Lally took a surprise victory during today’s Northeast Grand Prix at the historic Lime Rock Park.

“It’s amazing to take a win at Lime Rock,” stated Magnus Racing team owner and co-driver John Potter. “No track ever ‘owes you’ anything, but Lime Rock has been such a challenging venue for us in the past, to come in and take a win the way we did is a great feeling. Like any win, this was a complete team victory. Not only were our pit stops excellent, but the car was set up perfectly for the end of the race, and it showed when the time came for Andy to work his way up the field. Andy was unbelievable to watch during those last 45 minutes, and obviously the results speak for themselves. This was the boost we needed for the championship, and with four races to go we’re very focused on the next steps.”

As the seventh round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the No. 44 Audi Tire Center Audi R8 LMS took a strong, positive turn in their quest for the GT Daytona (GTD) championship. With the victory, the team now finds itself in second in series’ standings, just 13 points away from the leading No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari.
