QUICK SHOT: Magnus Racing
Takes Fourth at Road America
ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (August 7, 2016)- After a terrific series of drives by Magnus Racing drivers John Potter and Andy Lally, the team was able to enjoy the fruits of a hard-fought race by taking fourth during today’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at the historic Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
“Overall we’re satisfied with our results,” stated Magnus Racing team owner and co-driver John Potter. “Obviously we would have really liked a podium, and in our quest for the championship every point counts, but given our positioning for the start and the way the race unfolded, I think we can feel satisfied with the day. The team did a great job with the stops, our strategy was solid, plus Andy and I did our part, it was just an event for finishing fourth. With three races to go, every position counts in the championship, and today can definitely be remembered as a decent points day.”
As the eighth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the No. 44 Audi Tire Center Audi R8 LMS would actually start from the back of the field due to series’ rule as a result of a pre-race tire change, forcing opening-driver John Potter to make an impressive charge through the field as things began. Andy Lally would continue Potter’s momentum for the remainder of the race, eventually advancing in to the top-five and setting some of the best times in the process. |
