On Saturday, July 23, the WeatherTech and Continental race series came to Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT and put on a terrific show for a large crowd of race fans.  The weather was hot and so was the on-track action.  Both races were just short of three hours long so there was plenty to see.

The WeatherTech series race combined three classes.  The PC or Prototype Challenge cars which are purposely built for racing, open cockpit vehicles.  The GTLM cars, Gran Turismo LeMans vehicles are based on street cars but have more much more power. Finally the GTD cars which are the Gran Turismo Daytona class, are more like the street cars we see every day but still purpose built racing cars.

The GTLM class contained the two Ford GT cars that had raced at the 24 Hours of LeMans, two Corvettes, the Porsche factory team, the BMW factory team and a Ferrari from the Risi Competizione team.  The GTD class contained a number of Lamborghinis, Porsches, Audi R8s, a Ferrari, a Dodge Viper, and the Turner Motorsports BMWs.  A lot of hard racing went on between the cars within each class with the two Corvettes coming out victorious in the GTLM series and the Audi R8 of Magnus Racing taking first place in GTD, followed by the #6 Audi R8 of Stevenson Motorsports, and the #33 Dodge Viper.

Here are some more shots of the action!
