News & Notes

2014 KANSAS SPEEDWAY DRIVER LINE-UP:
No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R – Andrew Davis & Robin Liddell
No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R – Matt Bell and Andy Lally

SOARING HIGH: Not only is Stevenson Motorsports fresh off of a podium result at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago when Andy Lally & Matt Bell drove the No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R to a third place finish, but the team is also returning to Kansas Speedway this weekend where the No. 9 Camaro GS.R claimed victory last year with drivers Matt Bell & John Edwards.

A LOOK BACK – KANSAS SPEEDWAY – 2013: Stevenson Motorsports claimed the team’s second win of the season in GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge competition at Kansas last year as Matt Bell and John Edwards combined to lead a race-high 27 laps in the No. 9 Camaro GS.R en route to the victory. Stevenson Motorsports looked well on their way to victory as John Edwards stretched the leading margin in the second half of the race. But a late race caution with 17 minutes remaining set the stage for a final three lap green flag run to the finish. As Edwards took the green flag on the final restart, he defended masterfully against the championship-leading Porsche to take the win.

PREVIOUSLY, AT LIME ROCK PARK: After a rained out qualifying session forced the brother Stevenson Camaro Z/28.R entries to start from the middle of the pack at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago, both Chevrolets fought back to bring home a double top-10 result for the team in the fourth round of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Lime Rock Park, including the first podium of the season for the No. 9 Stevenson Camaro Z/28.R. An exciting battle in the final minutes of the race saw the experienced Andy Lally navigate the No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R to his first podium of the year with co-driver Matt Bell. The No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R of Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell battled back from a lap down to finish eighth.

WHAT’S NEW??: Though Stevenson Motorsports knows the quick way around the 6-turn, 2.37-mile Kansas Speedway roval circuit, it will be a new adventure for the team who will take its first laps around the track in the new Camaro Z/28.R. The race also marks the first IMSA-sanctioned event at Kansas Speedway with Stevenson Motorsports having competed last year as part of the GRAND-AM Series.

THE 2013 CHAMPIONSHIP:
Stevenson Motorsports secured a second consecutive runner-up position in the championship with drivers Matt Bell and John Edwards who combined for two wins on the year in the Chevrolet Camaro GS.R. The team amassed six podiums and finished among the top-10 in all but two races, remaining in contention for the championship all season long.
