Shanghai China Formula One Race Yields Different Result

Due to rain on Friday, most of the cars did not take to the track until the morning practice prior to qualifying.   In qualifying Sebastian Vettel was again the second quickest to Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton.  It is starting to look like there are two cars in the highest tier, Ferrari and Mercedes, with Red Bull running a half-step below.

During the race Hamilton established an early lead and was able to retain it throughout the race.  Vettel took second place and Max Verstappen, with the “drive of the day”, took third.  Verstappen started in 16th position on the grid, drove all the way through the field, took third position from his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, and then tried to overtake Vettel.  By then it was late in the race and he just ran out of time.

The result of all this is that Hamilton and Vettel are tied for first place in the driver standings and Mercedes leads Ferrari by one point in the Manufacturer’s Championship.  It is definitely looking like a great year to be watching.

Next up is Bahrain.
