Munroe Falls, Ohio – After nearly a two month break from Trans Am action, Ruman and the team will be heading south to Road Atlanta, GA, to compete in the 100-Mile Trans Am race sponsored by Luna-C Clothing. Ruman captured her first career Trans Am win at Road Atlanta in 2011, marking the first time for a female to win a race in the 45-year history of the Series.
It will be another busy weekend on the track for Ruman, with a packed entry list of 49 cars, including 18 in the TA class. The schedule structure for the weekend is similar to the last race, at Homestead, with the TA2 class broken out from the TA and TA3 classes, to have their own stand-alone race.
Last year, Ruman drove the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette to a strong 4th place finish at the iconic 2.50 mile Road Atlanta course, and is aiming her sights on the top spot of the podium once again.
“I am really excited to get back to racing again,” exclaimed Ruman. “This will be a busy month for us with three races, and I’m hoping to kick it off with a podium finish here. Road Atlanta has been good to us in the past, so I’m going to be driving hard for that top spot. The team has put a lot of effort into the No. 23 the last few months, and I am confident we will be fast here this weekend! ”
The Road Atlanta event opens on Thursday with a track test day followed by two official practice sessions on Friday which will be held from 8:00am –8:30am and 11:40am – 12:10pm. The Trans Am split qualifying session will also take place on Saturday at 2:15pm – 3:00pm. The green flag will fly for the Trans Am 2 race at 9:30am Saturday, followed by the Trans Am/TA3 race set to start at 11:00am. Both races will be 40-laps, 101.6 miles. All times listed are Eastern Standard Time.
Ruman will try to improve her position in the championship hunt this weekend; she is currently fourth in the standings.
