Michael Marsal Ready to Move up at Watkins Glen

michael_marsal_racing_1Watkins Glen, NY. (27 June 2014) – Following a quick 15-minute qualifying session around the 3.4-mile, 11-turn circuit of Watkins Glen, Michael Marsal put the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 on the eighth row for the start of the Continental Tire 150 at The Glen. He and his co-driver Tom Kimber-Smith now look to make their way forward through the pack during Saturday’s 150-minute race.

Due to the packed weekend schedule, Marsal knew he had to make the most of every single lap around the track during just two 45-minute practice sessions prior to qualifying, and successfully did just that, shaving over a second off of the fast-lap time for the No. 97 Turner machine from the first practice to the last.

Marsal scored a podium finish in his debut run at Watkins Glen in 2010 and aims for a return to the Glen podium Saturday afternoon.

“I just really love being at this track,” said Marsal after slotting the car into 15th position during qualifications. “It’s probably one of my favorite tracks to drive and I have a lot of experience with Turner Motorsport here at the Glen, so we all know what it takes for a good performance. The car felt really pretty good, honestly. I got caught up in a bit of traffic which hurt my lap times, but we have a whole race ahead of us to move up tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to it.”

The race is set to go green for the 59 car combined class field Saturday at 11:35 AM (ET). The event will be streamed LIVE on www.imsa.com.
